Foundation:

After many years being involved with
Standard Poodles, I became interested in the
Hungarian Vizsla. In the
early days, they were relatively scarce. Over the years their popularity
has increased enormously and I have seen many changes in the breed.
You will see from the many photographs on this site that my aim is, and has
always been to selectively breed for quality, type,
temperament, soundness, working ability and beauty.
In an effort to
improve the quality and longevity of the breed, I have imported a total of
SIX
males to date. The most recent
"Tiga"
is still a youngster.
"Punter"
was imported in 2001. He was carefully planned to
tie in with earlier UK lines and bred under my UK prefix
(Hanabrit). He has
certainly made his presence felt in a short time, being the biggest winning
Vizsla in Australia for the last four years. All of these imported dogs
have contributed significantly not only to
'Hanafor'
but the breed as a whole in this country.
In 2003/04
'Hanafor' entered a new
phase by officially including Barb Stading.
Barb acquired her first Vizsla
in 1990 and her second in 1993 and exhibited under Elessar Kennels. Prior
to acquiring Vizslas, Barb owned and trialled German Shepherd Dogs having
purchased her first dog in 1977.
